Definitely depends on what kind of gear you have. My sleeping bag is
only a bit bigger than a standard loaf of bread. My tent's about the
same size. If you have bigger stuff, I'd suggest getting a cheap
compression stuff sack from REI; they'll make it considerably smaller.

FWIW I have about 1.5 flats of bottled water I can donate to the cause.

Anyhow, I'm expecting my gear, inclusive, to fit in one camping
backpack. It can go on my lap if necessary.
