[Noisebridge-discuss] articles of incorporation submitted today

I was really hoping we would be accepted today and I could back off on
the whole key thing Now. Since that hasn't happened, and this has to go
on for some days longer, here's what I have to say.
1. As an individual and a lease signer, I'm personally responsible if
(for example) anyone forgets to lock the place, a crackhead goes in to
smoke crack, and burns the place down. Should this happen after we're
incorporated, Noisebridge is responsible. As a Noisebridge board member
I must put in sufficient effort to prevent such a thing, but I don't
have personal liability for accidents. There is the issue of the lease
requireing updating, but I'm willing to bridge that gap and just say, as
soon as we're a registered corporation, I'm OK with giving out keys
according to the will of the membership. This HAS to be my decision,
not everyone's, because it's my responsibility, not everyone's. As I
said before, this is in NO WAY a board member decision, it's completely
personal.
2. I fucked up on Tuesday. I absolutely should have thought that all
through then, and blocked the key consensus then. I can only say as an
excuse that I was just as excited about it all as everyone else there at
the time, as well as tired from a very full day, like everyone else.
3. What I'm doing about it is this:
* I put forth some ideas about how to prevent this kind of thing, by
myself or anyone else, in future
* I'm going to be at the space to let people in a LOT of the time
until our incorporation goes through. I've put this time up on the wiki
at https://www.noisebridge.net/index.php/The_Space .
* Assuming we put the safeguards in place that I've proposed (see
https://www.noisebridge.net/pipermail/noisebridge-discuss/2008-October/001001.html),
or others that are generally acceptable, I can absolutely promise not to
go back on a consensus decision again.
I hope this is, or will become, acceptable to people. I'd offer to
shave my head in atonement but it's a little too late for that...
