Hi Miah,

I'd like to reset my replies in this discussion. Largely because I feel
like it's about too many issues at once. I'm just going to focus on the
trans issue and I'm only going to speak for myself. Mostly, I'm sorry
that I contributed to you feeling shitty and I don't think the rest of
the discussion is anywhere as important as making you feel safe, secure
and welcome at Noisebridge.

I think all of those things totally suck. It's bad for you and it's bad
for all of the transpeople who face those issues.

When I see that kind of crap in person or online, I certainly feel like
I take a stand against it.

With that said, I'm sorry if you feel that I have contributed to that on
this list or otherwise. I have from the very start of Noisebridge wanted
to have a space that specifically was inclusive of all sexual orientation=
s.

I personally identify as a bisexual man. I experience discrimination or
bigotry on a regular basis in the hacker world. Noisebridge has largely
been an exception to that bigotry. It is rare to hear someone use gay in
a pejorative sense when someone describes some arbitrary technology
within the walls of Noisebridge. It is rarer still for someone to
personally call someone a faggot. Both have happened and it was a great
disappointment. It was decidedly non-excellent. Generally it doesn't
happen from the same person twice. That is some kind of progress, I think=
=2E

Please do accept my apology and hopefully also accept that I do not have
any issue with you being trans. If anything, I respect that you're brave
enough to transition in a homo/trans/gender-changing-phobic society.

Sincerely,
Jake
