TLTR: "The Scott" is leaving. Let's send him off with a 24 hour reading marathon, facilitated by volunteers to cook and pour diet Pepsi for "The Scott" on September 25, 8 A.M. Facilitate "The Scott" reading non-stop for 24 hours. I bet he can out-read everyone, if we're all quiet.

If you have been to Noisebridge recently, you may have noticed that the handicapped-accessible bathroom has been painted and tiled, and only the actual fixtures remain to be set. The bulk of the work (which involved lots of poo, shit-pipe-cutting, and scaring the second-floor ladies) was orchestrated by Donald "The Scott" Mills, our resident plumber/carpenter/contractor.

As "The Scott" is planning on a change in life soon (of the Alabama variety) I think we should throw him a "going-away" party.

V and I thought long and hard about how "The Scott" would celebrate.

I think we know how to celebrate his passing through our world: A reading party.

On Saturday, September 25, beginning at 8 A.M., we will begin a marathon, 24-hour reading party. "The Scott" has been known, without hyperbole, to consume entire books in 3 hours. I propose that we offer a Jump-Rope-For-Heart-like challenge to see who can read the most books in 24 hours.

Or to see who can read a book in 24 hours. Or to see who can eat the most books. "The Scott" is not a partier, so we should probably make this event an anti-party, with volunteer librarians to shush people and fake nuns to slap knuckles with yard-sticks.

No matter the form, such an event would necessitate food, people, fantasy and sci-fi novels, and a literal mega-liter of diet PepsiĀ®. Also, obviously, generous contributions to Noisebridge.
