Oh, another alternative I forgot to suggest: a keybox. E.g.:

Either keyed to the standard NB key, or on a keypad whose code we all
know. (The former is probably? easier, but I honestly don't know
here.) One on both sides of the glass door.

Would basically be a fancy end-run around changing the door per se.
