Yes we have discussed safety skirts many times.. so far the thing is only 
driven by a human operator (which is theoretically safer than a safety 
skirt) and at very low speeds autonomously.

Just last night we were discussing exactly where to connect the bump 
sensor, what buttons or contacts to use, and how to reset the fault 
condition when it happens.

Anyone here want to help build the bump skirt thing?

That thing is pretty heavy, and has a ton of torque (enough to carry
around people). We've had it hit (and push back a ways) tables and
furniture before.
