Look at the ground where the parking spaces are.  Each space has a circular
metal plate with two mm size holes, embedded in the asphalt.

One night at 1am, Mike and I saw 3 guys casually sticking probes through the
holes and taking readings on a handheld meter.

It's part of the system.

I suspect these are for the newer parking meters that have been
getting installed. Some are taking credit cards now, and I can only
assume they're doing authorization over wireless.

Does anyone else know what these are for? I'm curious.
