[Noisebridge-discuss] Hacker in Afghanistan

Wow, that is some extreme ignorance right there.

1. I highly doubt this Lance Corporal chomping at the bit to get out there
and do some killin' fer Amerika. In fact, I'd wager that he wants no part
of it. Refusing to partake in combat, while in combat, will probably get
you killed by the person combating you, or if you live through that, your
can be punished with a bullet in the back, via your officer's .45 pistol.
Btw that's the main reason officers carry pistols. Or you could go the
conscientious objector route and go to jail for a while and have your
record fucked for the rest of your life.

2. Bradley Manning wasn't a conscientious objector nor at any point has he
"refused to kill anybody". He was an Intel guy which means he helped
collect and pass on enemy(whoever they may have been at the time) intel to
his superiors who would then use that information to go about killing the
enemy (people) the most efficient way possible. All Manning did was send
some info and vids over to wiki-leaks, which I applaud, but he should've
been able to keep his shit together, and not botch and moan to an
user-douche like Lamo. Lamo, a hacker, ratted him out.

3. Most of the money spent on the war in Afghanistan goes to contractors,
or sometimes just straight up "disappears". There almost certainly isn't a
Gatorade and sunflower seeds budget for the lowly enlisted.

4. If it were up to me, I'd spend 118.6b comic books and beer.
