[Noisebridge-discuss] Anti SOPA/PIPA Rally in SF during Internet Strike Day Tomorrow

I was just listening to NPR presenting what sounded to me like pro-SOPA
disinfo, drawing exaggerated attention to piratical sites that offer step
by step instructions on how to infringe copyrights & such, & stating that
"most artists are happy about SOPA."
Really? I'm an artist. Why don't they ever interview me for these
mysterious polls?
Incidentally, have any of you ever been interviewed for a "Gallup Poll?"
Who does get interviewed for Gallup Polls? Must be the same people who
provide the Nielsen Ratings.
On a tangentially related note, question about copyright: if you reproduce
copyrighted material without permission, but with no intention of making
money, & without making any money, is it still illegal? I suppose so, but
I'm not sure.
Also, the rearrangement of space in the Hackitorium is growing on me. I was
initially disoriented & felt like an eagle without an eyrie in the wake of
the space-quake, but now I see how it will lead to greater efficiency &
better use of space. Consent is good, but I also believe in the necessity
of sometimes jumping in & pushing things forward on your own initiative,
because otherwise, "to put it in the vernacular of the peasantry,"* shit
just don't get done.
