I suggest going to Noisebridge, physically, and asking around.  If you've not been to Noisebridge before, consider going to a weekly Tuesday meeting, which is at 8pm (every week), and mention your meetup idea there.  That should give you a good idea if there's enough interest.

Why would you care about Dash?
1. Almost instant transactions
2. The Dash blockchain can fund future events and/or sponsor them

At this point, I'd just like to see the possible interest level and get some support of a Noisebridge member.
