[Noisebridge-discuss] Anyone playing around in the home automation space?

i've done some pretty weird DIY power, light, and water controls around
the house. what are you hoping to do? my next project is a passive
infrared sensor to turn on a kitty litter exhaust fan. if you need
something that connects to the cloud without any additional hardware, i
recommend an Electric Imp. not the cheapest and the setup procedure is
annoying since you flash the wifi credentials optically from a phone or
tablet, but after that i was able to send texts at the push of a button
on the device.
